American Mural Project - HealthCorps® Project
In AMP's latest project, tongue depressors decorated by members of
HealthCorps®, an organization promoting health and fitness awareness
for kids in
New York and New Jersey, will form a sculptural element in the giant
mural near the section depicting Dr. Mehmet Oz, AMP board member
and HealthCorps® founder.
HealthCorps® kids decorated depressors at Gallery Henoch in Manhattan
on October 6th, where the 12-foot painting of Dr. Oz was exhibited, and at
Healthy Halloween in Tompkins Square Park on October 27th. Depressors
are also on hand at the HealthCorps® affiliated schools. With the help of HealthCorps® director Michele Bouchard and her staff, Ellen is scheduling
visits to many of these schools in 2008. "The impact will be the greatest if we have everyone taking part, a real symbol of HealthCorps®, with several thousand contributions from kids and teachers. We want to surround the surgeons' element with this huge jungle of tongue depressors".
