The Mural is not being painted by Ellen alone.
"I wanted to get other people involved," she
says, "so they could share my excitement,
and so that it would not only be of
Americans but also by Americans."

Ellen decided to visit all 50 states and
to work with everyone from preschoolers
to retirees. She has already been to 11
states and worked with over 2,000 people.
"By the time it's finished," Ellen says, "my guess
is that 100,000 people will have been involved."

A goal for the future is to create educational
programs which will build on the Mural's original
concepts and be widely available through
schools and the Mural's web site.
