Experience hands-on training in outdoor design and growing at the American Mural Project (AMP) in Winsted. This program is great for teens who are aspiring artists, architects, gardeners, landscape designers, and more.

Trail blaze, clear, trim, and build outdoor environments utilizing natural resources. Work alongside experienced craftspeople to learn basic skills in woodworking and design. Last summer’s projects included a tree house, bridge, and an outdoor stage—help pick what to build this year!

Explore woodland horticulture and plants in their natural habitat, including identifying invasive species. Learn about and assist in all aspects of sustaining a garden, from exploring organic methods of growing and cultivating the soil in raised beds to planting seeds/seedlings and harvesting. Celebrate the week’s end by creating recipes and meals from the garden’s bounty.

• Develop an appreciation of food production and healthy eating

Scholarships

A limited number of partial scholarships are available for full-day Summer @AMP programs, as well as the Outdoor Design & Growing program. We encourage families to apply early. Families will receive notification by Friday, May 17, 2019.

Refund Policy

  • If you need to cancel your child’s registration, we will refund you in full up until 14 days prior to the start of the program. No refunds will be issued within 14 days of the program, or after the start of the program.

  • Cancellation notice must be submitted in writing. Please email summer@americanmuralproject.org.

  • Refunds will be issued in the same manner payment was made.

  • Cancellation requests due to illness or accident prior to the start of the program require a physician’s written verification. Upon receipt of verification, we will issue a full refund.
