Art at Work: Education Programs

Ellen and Christine just returned from the Connecticut Art Education Association (CAEA) fall conference, where they met and worked with many teachers to create their own “work” drawings, which were then collaged into these great pieces. (We love seeing images of “creativity at work”!) Several of these teachers are interested in having their schools work with AMP on future projects. Send us a message if you’d like more information, too!

Patrons of the American Mural Project will have the opportunity to hear the stories of everyday American workers when they tour the museum when it opens, possibly as early as next year, thanks to an internship program.

The project, otherwise known as AMP, hired five college-age adults this summer to be part of an unpaid pilot 10-week internship program. They received first-hand experience interviewing people who have a wide variety of different jobs.

Winsted's the American Mural Project received a $50,000 pledge from the Draper Foundation Fund. The pledge will be applied toward AMP's capital campaign to renovate its mill building and open its arts center to the public. The state has also pledged $1 million to support the project.
