A relaxed weekend art studio for teens—where you can explore new materials, make friends, and grow as an artist.
Teen Art Studio (TAS) is a relaxed, drop-in art program for ages 13–18. Explore painting, sculpture, mixed media, and more with guidance from teaching artist Shana Bazelman. Try new materials, develop your ideas, meet other young artists, and have fun making art—no experience necessary.
Second Saturdays, 10:30am–1:30pm
$5 materials fee or free with AMP Student Membership
All materials and mural admission included.
Drop-ins welcome, but registering helps us plan ahead.

Each session includes materials for painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, and sometimes things like stop-motion or fashion—making it one of the most accessible teen art classes in CT for creative experimentation.

We encourage you to reserve a spot. It helps us prepare materials and speeds up the check-in process. You can also drop in anytime between 10:30 and 1:30 on the day of the program.

Yes. TAS is designed for teens ages 13 to 18. We also offer Family Day programs at the same time for younger kids, so it’s a great opportunity for families with kids of multiple ages.

Not at all. Whether you're brand new to art or already building a portfolio, Teen Art Studio is a place to experiment, learn, and grow.

TAS is led by professional teaching artist Shana Bazelmans, who brings creative prompts, technical support, and encouragement to each session.

There is a $5 materials fee per session, or you can come for free with an AMP Student Membership ($25/year).

All sessions take place at the American Mural Project, 90 Whiting Street, Winsted, CT—in our program room, just steps from the mural exhibit.
