Group TOURS
Embark on a one-of-a-kind cultural experience that blends art, storytelling, and fresh perspectives to explore the meaning of work in everyday life. Whether you're part of a senior group, a bus tour, a community organization, or a family gathering, AMP’s group visits promise to be engaging and thought-provoking.
We offer three flexible options:
Guided Group Tour (Friday–Sunday)
Group Tour + Art Activity (Fridays)
Private Group Experience (Thursdays by reservation only)
Guided Group Tour
Friday–Sunday
Guided tours enrich the mural exhibit experience, making the art come to life with anecdotes about the workers and the artist’s process. A guided group tour requires advance reservation/payment.
Fees
To receive the group rate of $10 per person, your group must include at least ten adults. This rate is only available for group visits during AMP’s public hours.
Group Tour + Art Activity
Fridays only
Make your visit even more memorable with a guided tour of the mural exhibit, followed by a hands-on art-making experience (e.g., collage, printmaking). Who says kids should have all the fun?
Fees
For a group art activity, add a $10 materials fee per person. A deposit is required to reserve your date and time.
Private Group Experience
Thursdays by reservation only
Groups can book an exclusive mural exhibit experience outside of public hours. Private group tours are ideal for visitors who cannot come during the Friday and weekend times. The private group experience includes all the exhibit features (introductory video, self-guided Mural Stories audio tour, the Watches installation, and an optional guided tour). You can also customize your visit with a guided tour and an art activity.
Fees
A flat fee of $300 is charged for up to 20 people. For more than 20, add $15 per person. Group guided tours are included. For a group art activity, add a $10 materials fee per person. Private exhibit experiences must be paid in advance.
Reserve a Private Group Experience
Email visit@americanmuralproject.org to request your preferred Thursday date and time (10am or 2pm). A Visitor Services associate will personally assist you with your group visit.

Groups of 10 or more, who request a guided tour, qualify for the group rate of $10 per person when they reserve in advance. This rate is only available for group visits during AMP’s public hours. Library passes, Museums for All, and other free and discounted admissions do not apply to group visits who are receiving the group rate.

AMP is fully wheelchair accessible. If your group has specific needs, please let us know when booking. We are happy to assist you.

Groups are welcome to bring lunch. Depending on the size of your group, there are areas you can eat within the exhibit space. During warm weather, outdoor seating is available. There are many dining options in Winsted and the surrounding area.

AMP’s parking lot includes wheelchair-accessible spaces and bus parking.
Booking & Policies
Group Visits During Public Hours
Reservations are highly recommended for groups. Request your reservation at least 2 to 3 weeks in advance. If you are visiting during AMP’s public hours on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, you can guarantee your group rate with your guided group tour only by booking in advance.
Advance notice of cancellation is appreciated! You may cancel by emailing visit@americanmuralproject.org or by calling (860) 379-3006. Visitor services will assist you in rescheduling your group visit.
Friday Group Visits with An Art Activity
If you are visiting on a Friday and would like to enhance your visit with a guided Group Art Activity, you must reserve a date and time and pay a non-refundable deposit.
Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance for a refund unless you are rescheduling. Visitor services will assist you in rescheduling your group visit and art activity.
Private Thursday Visits
If you are planning to visit on a Thursday for a private group experience, a reservation is required, and your visit must be paid for in advance. Visitor Services is happy to assist you. You may choose either 10am or 2pm.
Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance for a refund unless you are rescheduling. Visitor services will assist you in rescheduling your private group visit.
Late Arrivals
If your group is more than 15 minutes late and you have reserved a tour or art activity, we will do our best to accommodate, but we may need to adjust or shorten your guided experience. You may always explore the exhibit on your own during all our public hours.
