Three of our staff members—Amy, Ruthie, and Michelle—completed a course in CPR/AED and First Aid so that our tours and programs are always covered by someone who is trained. Offered through Winsted Area Ambulance Association Official Site, our group's training was led by Ryan Weiss, WAAA's vice president, who did a great job of making it thorough and engaging. What an awesome experience!

Back to work! This time Ellen is cutting out what will be the entry to the collaborative sections of the mural that have been created by people in 17 states across the country (the remaining 33 state projects to happen in the coming years). These pieces will be displayed along the ramp gallery on the second level behind the mural. More on that soon!

Budding gardeners at work during AMP's "Grow Where You're Planted" program with the R Dudley Seymour Elementary School! Students in grades 2–5 planted, composted, and mulched four planter boxes with flowers, herbs, berries, and veggies (all donated by Gresczyk Farms), then designed and painted gorgeous tiles to affix to the outside of the planters.

Huge thanks to Gresczyk Farms for their amazing support of our new Grow Where You're Planted after-school gardening program, in partnership with R. Seymour Elementary School in Granby, Connecticut. Gresczyk Farms donated all of the herbs, berries, veggies, flowers, soil, and compost the students will need to design and plant the large planter boxes on the property. Amazing!

Last week's install included several three-dimensional elements, including this beautiful piece which is part of the section of the mural depicting Maine fisherman Manley Doughty and his crew. It features a gigantic piece of driftwood, fishing nets, lobster traps, lawn ornaments, and a number of once-smelly bait bags that were collected as part of the Maine state project.
