The Big Ol’ Family Arty Party

Join AMP for a varied and fun day of all-ages, interactive art-making including song, dance, sticker making, collage art, and a special community art project. It wouldn't be a Big Ol' Arty Party without you!

Explore AMP and our mega-mural with a scavenger hunt, tours, games, and more!

Custom sticker-making with teaching artist Alana Ladson! Kids use their own doodles to design stickers for themselves, friends or family members! After, participants can also use their stickers on a collage project led by AMP’s teaching artist Sophia O.

Help design our Able Table! You may ask, "What is an Able Table?" Great question! An Able Table is is a custom-built picnic table that ensures accessibility for everyone, allowing individuals using wheelchairs, strollers, or those needing additional seating accommodations a chance to join in the fun. Program sponsored in part by Hartford Healthcare.
Using Winsted landmarks as our theme, the community will help design and paint an Able Table that can be enjoyed by one and all at Rowley Field—a gift from AMP to the Town of Winsted.
Walk-ins are welcome, but registering helps us plan ahead.

Explore our Dino-sized mural with scavenger hunts and fun activities. We’ll also have a special excavation project where kids use the same skills as an archaeologist to unearth their own dinosaurs!

Crests, horns, frills, plates, spikes, spines, teeth, claws: when it comes to evolutionary adaptations, dinosaurs are the all time winners! Students will observe some of the amazing adaptations for themselves, and use their scientific skills to figure out what they were for. Jurassic Classroom's resident paleontologist Patrick Murphy leads this fun, interactive exploration of actual fossils!

What is a cryptid? They're the local creatures that live in legend and the public imagination, like Sasquatch, the Loch Ness Monster, the Abominable Snowman, and the mysterious Chupacabra. Just in time for Halloween, Valerie Ruby-Omen, illustrator of Connecticut Cryptids: A Field Guide to the Weird and Wonderful Creatures of the Nutmeg State, will talk about the fantastical folklore of Connecticut's own cryptids, including Meriden's The Black Dog of Hanging Hills, Glastonbury's Glawackus, and our very own Bigfoot, The Winsted Wildman!
