THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA with Live Music!

This Halloween, the American Mural Project presents a special treat for movie and music lovers of all ages: the iconic silent film The Phantom of the Opera starring Lon Chaney and featuring an original score performed live by 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻 and 𝗝𝗼𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗻!

Behind the scenes of the Paris Opera, a mysterious phantom lurks in the shadows, scheming to provide a breakthrough for an up-and-coming young singer, Christine. He terrorizes the opera house and abducts the young soprano, taking her to a hidden lair deep within the catacombs of the building. Peril awaits anyone daring enough to attempt to rescue her! Having celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2025, The Phantom of the Opera is considered a cornerstone of the horror genre.

For this presentation, Joanna Seaton and Donald Sosin perform their acclaimed score, which they have presented internationally, including a recent performance at the American Film Institute’s theater in Silver Spring, Maryland. Joanna provides sound effects and sings three excerpts from Gounod’s Faust, the opera featured onstage in the film, while Donald performs live music on piano and organ!
