SUMMER @AMP: Band Lab!
Kids ages 10 and up get to play, write, and rock @AMP!
With the guidance of Sam Guglielmino of Winsted’s Mad River Music, young musicians will have a rocking time choosing music and preparing for a live performance in this five-day program! Jam with a group, play solo and write songs—all while exploring a variety of musical styles. Participants are encouraged to bring their instruments and can also try new ones. Don’t have an instrument or don’t have experience? No worries; you can still rock on! The final performance will be in AMP’s main gallery on Friday, July 31 at 2pm.
In this five-day program, kids and teens will:
Experience the excitement of playing in a band.
Play instruments, sing, and perform in an amazing environment.
Be mentored by a professional working musician.
Choose from pop, rock, and R&B’s most iconic songs.
Experience both creative freedom and structure to find their musical stride.
Learn how to rehearse to enhance skills and gain confidence.
Learn musical language and how to talk to other musicians.
Focus on technique and learn some basic music theory.
Experiment with percussion and rhythm.
Develop techniques and improvisation skills.
Stretch! Discover latent talents and do things they didn’t know they could.
No experience is necessary. No audition is required. This is a small-group program led by teaching artist Sam Guglielmino, co-owner of Mad River Music. Space is limited.
