Audio Tour
The five-story, 120'-long mural can be viewed on three different observation levels. Throughout the experience, there are prompts that allow visitors to synch what they are seeing and hearing via a hand-held audio receiver. Subjects represented in the mural as well as artist Ellen Griesedieck share their stories, making the visit a more multi-dimensional experience of the artwork and the role of work in our lives. The audio tour, which is available in English and Spanish and is included in your AMP admission, takes approximately 40 minutes to experience fully.
The Spanish audio tour is made possible by support from: Northwest CT Community Foundation, DECD/CT Office of the Arts, NBT Bank, Globe Cleaners.
Families
The American Mural Project exhibit is a family-friendly experience. In addition to Family Days, AMP offers scavenger hunts, I-See games, binocular loans, sensory kits, and a children’s area with books and puzzles—all included with your admission.
When you visit, ask for the children’s scavenger hunts and I-See games at the visitor services desk. They’re a great way to engage your kids, connect them to the art, and start discussions about the significance of work and workers.
Accessibility
Accessible parking is available in AMP’s parking lot, in front of the building.
